Standard line TX transducers have a flat active element and front face generating an acoustic beam with a natural focusing effect at a distance named the focal distance, where the beam diameter is at minimum and the acoustic energy at highest. The focal distance can be reduced by giving both the active element and the front face a spherical shape, which concentrates the acoustic energy at a closer distance from the transducer.
This specific design is for instance interesting for applications with small measurement depth and high acoustic attenuation.
This transducer type, TF line, is custom-made according to specific focusing distance user requirements.
